Med Spa SEO: How to Rank Your Clinic in the Map Pack

Key Takeaways
- Near me searches are won in the map pack, and Google ranks it on relevance, distance and prominence.
- In our Austin and Scottsdale captures, every clinic in the map pack had more than 200 Google reviews.
- One page per treatment beats a single services page, because each page matches its own treatment plus city search.
- Judge SEO by booked appointments from search and maps, not by rankings or traffic alone.
Med spa SEO is the work of ranking your clinic in Google's map pack and organic results for treatment searches in your city, such as Botox near me. For a single location, the order is a complete Google Business Profile, one page per treatment, consistent listings, a steady flow of recent reviews, and tracking tied to booked appointments.
Aesthetics searches are local and high intent. Someone typing botox near me at 9 p.m. is choosing a clinic, not researching the drug, and Google answers with three clinics on a map before any website.
This medical spa SEO guide shows what two real map packs look like, the order of work that gets a clinic into them, and how to tell whether search engine optimization is producing appointments or only rankings.
How Google ranks med spas for near me searches
For near me searches, the map pack is the result that matters. It sits above the organic search results and shows three clinics with ratings, hours and buttons.

Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence (Google Business Profile Help). Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Distance is how far you are from the person searching.
Prominence is how well known you are, which includes links to your website and how many reviews you have. Google also says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking, so local SEO work goes into relevance and prominence.
What two real map packs show
We pulled Google results for two searches in October 2026: med spa near me in Austin and botox near me in Scottsdale.

Two patterns stand out. First, every clinic in both map packs had more than 200 Google reviews, from 211 at Austin Med Spa to 855 at Alani Skin MD, and all six were rated 4.9 or 5.0 stars.
Second, the organic results did a poor job on location. Under the Scottsdale map pack sat Botox pages from clinics in Los Angeles, Irvine and Oceanside; in Austin, directory pages for Henderson, Reno and Charleston. The map pack carried the local decision.

That sets a practical target for a newer clinic. Passing 20 reviews only clears the BrightLocal cutoff; getting into the map pack takes a steady monthly flow toward the range your local competitors already hold.
The med spa SEO order of operations
A good SEO strategy follows an order. Writing blog posts before the profile and treatment pages are fixed wastes months of effort.
Work through these in order for a single-location clinic.
- Complete the Google Business Profile. Primary category Medical spa, every treatment listed as a service, real interior photos, accurate hours and a booking link.
- Build one page per treatment. Botox, filler, laser hair removal, microneedling and body contouring each get a page with a price range, consented results and the city named in the title.
- Make name, address and phone match everywhere. The website, Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and aesthetics directories show the clinic's details exactly the same way.
- Run a review request flow. Ask every patient at checkout and again by text after the visit, and reply to every review, including the critical ones.
- Add structured data. LocalBusiness markup with the most specific sub-type, address, phone, hours and services on the homepage and location page.
- Track calls and bookings to the source. Call tracking and tagged booking links show which pages and listings produce appointments, not just sessions.
Google Business Profile settings that matter
Your Google Business Profile is what appears in the map pack, so it does more ranking work than any page on your site.
Google states that businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local search. For a med spa, a complete business profile covers these five items:
- Primary category: Medical spa. Add secondary categories only where they describe services you actually offer.
- Services: every treatment listed by the name patients search for, with a one-line description.
- Photos: real interior, exterior, team and treatment room photos, refreshed every quarter.
- Booking link: pointed at your scheduler or booking page, not the homepage.
- Hours and holiday hours: wrong hours produce one-star reviews from people who drove over.
Look at the Austin capture again. Wild and Beautiful is the only clinic of the three with a Schedule button in its listing, so a searcher books without opening the website at all.
Treatment pages and local keyword targeting
New clinic sites rarely win the broad term med spa. The realistic path is treatment plus city, near me searches and pre-booking questions.
- Treatment + city. Example: Botox Scottsdale; Searcher intent: Ready to book; Where it ranks best: Treatment page plus Google profile
- Near me. Example: laser hair removal near me; Searcher intent: Ready to book; Where it ranks best: Map pack, driven by profile and reviews
- Price question. Example: how much is lip filler; Searcher intent: Comparing options; Where it ranks best: Treatment page with a price range
- Process question. Example: does microneedling hurt; Searcher intent: Researching; Where it ranks best: Answer on the treatment page or a post
- Brand. Example: [clinic name] reviews; Searcher intent: Checking you out; Where it ranks best: Homepage, Google profile, review sites
Local keyword targeting starts with one page per treatment. Use the treatment and city in the title and H1, answer price and downtime questions on the page, and link each page from the matching service in your Google profile.
How those pages should look and book is covered in our guide to med spa website design. Check keyword difficulty in your SEO tool and start where bigger sites have no strong page.
Reviews: volume, recency and the rules
Reviews count twice. Google uses them in prominence, and searchers use them to choose between the three clinics in the map pack.
BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey of 1,002 US adults found 97% of consumers read reviews for local businesses and 74% look for reviews from the last three months. A burst of old reviews loses to a steady monthly flow.
Replies matter as well. In the same survey, 80% are likely to use a business that responds to all of its reviews, and 50% are unlikely to choose one whose replies sound templated.
Do not tie rewards to positive reviews. The FTC's Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, in effect since October 21, 2024, bans incentives conditioned on a review expressing a particular sentiment. Our guide to med spa review management covers the full workflow.
Local schema, listings and location pages
Structured data and consistent listings help Google confirm your clinic is where you say it is, offering what you list.
Add LocalBusiness markup with the most specific sub-type that fits, as Google's local business documentation recommends. Name and address are required; hours, phone and price range are recommended.
Your clinic's name, address and phone should match exactly across the website, Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and aesthetics directories. Small differences, like Suite 200 on one listing and #200 on another, take one afternoon to clean up.
Do not publish 20 city pages with the same text and a swapped town name. Google's spam policies call pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page doorway abuse. Build a location page only where you have a clinic.
SEO versus paid search for med spas
Organic search and paid ads do different jobs. Ads fill the calendar this month; SEO builds a flow that keeps coming when spend stops.
Every organic visit is a click you did not buy. WordStream's 2026 Google Ads benchmarks put the average click in Beauty and Personal Care at $4.62 and the average cost per lead at $39.25.
Expect profile fixes and fresh reviews to show in map positions first. Treatment pages take longer to settle, and longest in dense metros where dozens of medical spas compete for the same searches.
Paid ads deliver in the same month, while SEO compounds over quarters. Our Meta vs Google ads comparison covers that side.
AI answers and your online presence
Search now includes AI answers. The same BrightLocal survey found 45% of consumers used ChatGPT or similar tools for local business recommendations.
Google's own AI Overview for med spa SEO, captured in October 2026, lists the same basics as this guide: the Google Business Profile, local citations and treatment-specific pages.
AI tools and search engines both repeat facts that are stated plainly: treatment names, prices, provider credentials, address and recent reviews. Write those as short, quotable sentences on your pages, and keep your social media profiles consistent with your listings.
Tracking SEO to booked appointments
Rankings are a means, not the goal. Tag every booking link, use call tracking on the site, and connect form fills to your booking system.
Each month, review three numbers: calls and bookings from your Google profile, booking starts from each treatment page, and booked appointments by landing page. If a page ranks but never books, fix the page, not the ranking.
Our med spa lead generation guide shows how to follow up search leads so they show up. If you want help reading your own numbers, book a free 15-minute call.
When you compare SEO services, ask what the provider changes in month one versus month six and how they report booked appointments. Then compare our med spa marketing service with the best med spa marketing agencies.
FAQs
How long does med spa SEO take to work?
Profile fixes and new reviews show in map positions first. Treatment pages take longer to settle, and dense metros with many med spas take the longest. Most clinics run paid ads for appointments while SEO builds underneath.
How much does med spa SEO cost?
Prices vary by market and scope, so be wary of flat packages that ignore your local competition. Judge any quote by cost per booked appointment over six months, and ask what the provider does in month one versus month six.
Should a med spa do SEO in-house or hire an agency?
Keep the Google profile, photos and review requests in-house, because your front desk sees every patient. Hire help for treatment pages, structured data and tracking if nobody on staff has done them, and make sure you own every account.
Conclusion
Med spa SEO is won close to home. In both map packs we pulled, three local clinics with hundreds of recent reviews took the top of the page, while the organic links below them came from other states.
Start with the parts you control: a complete Google Business Profile, one page per treatment, matching listings and a steady review flow. Then track which pages and listings produce booked appointments, and put your effort there.
If you want to see where your clinic stands against the three med spas ranking above you, book a free 15-minute call and we will map the first gap to close.
